Fleas

Fleas are minute and can cause severe irritation to animals, including your pets. As well as being annoying and causing itching, if the larvae go undetected in your home, and they are allowed to reach adulthood in furniture fabric or carpets, it can become a real problem.

Color – Dark brown

Length – 1/12-1/8" in length. They have a flat body.

Diet – They feed exclusively on their host's blood.

Habitat – They seek warm-blooded hosts and live on the skin of dogs, cats, opossums, rodents, and humans.

Impact – As well as leaving red itchy bumps where they have bitten, fleas also spread disease. If you see signs of flea infestations on your pet or in your home, they should be exterminated. Flea saliva may also set off allergic responses in humans and pets.
