Ticks

Ticks

Ticks are eight-legged creatures, but the similarity to spiders stops right there! They move incredibly slowly and have no wings. Their capacity for spreading disease is a huge concern.

Color – Brown to black

Length – ⅛- 3/16"

Diet – A tick feeds on blood and nothing else. They are known as Deer Ticks, due to the way they would attach to a deer for their blood meal. Similarly, they will also attach to human hosts to get a blood meal.

Habitat – They lay in wait in the grass and bushes until they find something to attach themselves to for their next blood meal.

Impact – Ticks can carry Lyme’s Disease, so all areas where ticks have been spotted will need to be treated. Lyme’s Disease can cause severe health issues for many years if it is not diagnosed and treated quickly.
