The Integrated Pest Management Approach to Controlling Pests

If you mention the phrase ‘pest control’ to most people, they would conjure up an image in their mind of a guy with a spray tank on his back coming to kill the pests in your home, and leave behind him a strong chemical smell. Sadly, some companies still undertake the ‘soak everything with spray’ practice which is certainly not the approach we use at Eco Tech.

Eco Tech uses the best practices of IPM (Integrated Pest Management). It is a concept which has been ultimately created by research scientists who were studying the difficulties faced by farmers against insects, which approach they soon realized was not beneficial. So, they developed a far better approach founded on their knowledge of pests which was successful. They could control pests without the need for so many pesticides. IPM was accepted as the standard best practice for pest management in city areas, and has, in fact, been validated by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and the EPA (Environmental Pest Agency). They have certified that the IPM is the safest and best approach when dealing with the more serious pests, such as bed bugs. They validate it as beneficial because it reduces the extreme use of pesticides, and therefore reduces the possible long-standing health effects which can be caused due to over-use in the home.

Throughout the nation, and the world, professionals, identify the IPM to be the best practice for reasonable yet effective pest control.

Integrated Pest Management (IMP) is founded on the following: IPM is based on:
  1. An understanding of the biology of pests
  2. A valuation of the premises, to include, identifying the type of pest and evaluating the circumstances
  3. Applying chemical-free treatment prevention methods
  4. Use restricted targeted pesticide applications, where necessary
  5. The assessment of results and a follow-up visit.

The IPM approach is scientific and embodies a rational cycle, ensuring that the pest issue and the process used for elimination is described to you, the client and that the pest problem is solved with your support, where needed. In some instances, the situation may not require the use of any pesticides, for instance, for the odd invader here and there which does not breed inside your home. It may be the case that we advise the client that if specific preventative measures are carried out, there may not be the need for our service.
If there is a more severe infestation of pests, we will set out clearly what we need to do and give you details on what to expect as well as providing you with our guarantee to deal with the problem in the most realistic terms possible.
Every job is evaluated with the IPM method. We ensure all our clients are kept up to date with as much information as possible about specific pests, and the most effective method for the removal and prevention of the infestation recurring.
Our pledge to you is our guarantee for an exceptional service.
